Design Studio Step Across the Border

In this integrated design studio (cooperation between urban design and spatial planning) we discuss the importance of Vienna in a future strengthened metropolitan region North-East (Vienna-Brno-Bratislava-Győr). What potential does a cross-scale perspective open up for the targeted further development of Vienna's north-east? What synergies can be activated across city, state and national borders?

Particular attention is paid to questions of industrial transition: What future do revitalized industrial sites such as the former Opel plant in Vienna-Aspern have in the productive urban region of tomorrow? And what role can agricultural regions such as the Marchfeld or the Marchauen (Záhorie region, Slovakia), as well as cross-border educational and research institutions, play in this?
