Ute Schneider started her studies at the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz, after training as a carpenter and several years of experience in interior design. During her studies of architecture and urban planning at the University of Stuttgart, she gained further experience at the University of Karlsruhe and the TU Delft. During her studies, she worked in various internationally operating architecture firms. In 1998 she co-founded the office zipherspaceworks in Stuttgart, which works at the interface between urban planning, architecture, exhibition, product and graphic design. In 2002, she founded her own office and at the same time started her collaboration with KCAP in Rotterdam. In 2006, she founded the office in Zurich, becoming director in 2008 and partner in 2016. She is a sought-after lecturer and member of international selection committees, juries and advisory boards. She has taught at various universities and has been head of the Research Unit of Urban Design since March 2021.
