Stefan Johannes Kubin studied architecture at TU Wien, specialising in urban planning and building research. He has been teaching at TU Wien since 2011 and at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences since 2016 and works as a freelance scientific editor and publisher.
His research and teaching activities cover the following topics: Urban history and urban utopias in Europe, with a particular focus on 19th and early 20th century Vienna, building culture and urban planning in Roman antiquity and late antiquity, and sacred architecture of the Middle Ages.
His dissertation deals with the legacy of the Sitte family of architects, which spans three generations. He has been Chairman of the Camillo Sitte Society since 2019, succeeding Christoph Luchsinger.
