Seminar Perspectives on street space
Addressing current key challenges in cities—such as heat island effects and heavy rainfall, high mobility volumes, unequal distribution of space, and vacant ground floor space—is largely decided in the public sphere. Since streets and alleys make up the largest part of the public sphere, their design is one of the decisive factors in ensuring the quality of life in cities in the future.
This seminar aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of one of the most fundamental factors in a city's quality of life: the actual spatial and functional quality of streets. To this end, historical and current street spaces will be analyzed together and examined from different perspectives.
In cooperation with the research project SSSEIC – StreetScapes for a Social-Ecological Inclusive City.
