Lecture Urban Developement
Lecture series
The lecture series provides basic and advanced knowledge of urban development and urban design. The focus is on illustrating the historical development of the discipline, as well as its potential and the interdisciplinary connections in its use in everyday planning and design.
On the basis of general principles, theories, models and practical examples, basic knowledge about the framework conditions, influencing factors and results of urban development processes in an international context and in particular for the city of Vienna is conveyed. Building on our own experience of the urban space in which we move on a daily basis, approaches, strategies and methods can be examined and questioned in direct observation. The instruments, approaches and diverse possibilities of the discipline are examined from different perspectives in order to provide the tools to design the city, our immediate living environment, in a sustainable, people-, nature-, species- and climate-friendly way that is attractive for different user groups. It is up to us to shape our environment so that future generations will find good living conditions.
