EUROPAN18 – Re:sourcing
Competition for Planners
News
We are looking for your ideas! Participate in Europe’s largest competition for planners under 40 and bring your visions to life. The 18th edition of EUROPAN focuses on the theme "Re:sourcing." The increasing fragility of our ecosystem and ongoing societal crises highlight the urgent need for innovative alternatives to resource extraction, overconsumption, and environmental degradation. Forward-thinking projects must integrate nature and culture, fostering sustainable lifestyles. The challenge lies in successfully combining ecological responsibility, socio-spatial equity, and quality of life to implement transformative ideas.
Recent global developments—including the climate crisis, resource scarcity, and geopolitical conflicts—have underscored our collective vulnerabilities. EUROPAN18 therefore raises a fundamental question: How can we, as planners and decision makers, initiate sustainable, inclusive and equitable urban processes and projects using existing resources? Now is the time to contribute your ideas and take action!
Participants can choose from 47 sites across 12 European countries to develop innovative solutions for a sustainable future. In this edition, we are pleased to announce a collaboration with Switzerland, featuring an exciting selection of four project sites: Bregenz-Hard-Fußach-Höchst in Austria, as well as Lucerne, St.Gallen and Geneva in Switzerland. The site visits will take place in April 2025.
EUROPAN is exclusively open to the next generation of ambitious planners. For more than three decades, we have been matching young talent with committed site partners and supporting them on their way to realizing their visions. By challenging traditional hierarchical competition structures, EUROPAN offers a unique platform for innovation and collaboration.
