Looking through the eyes of the animals
Lecture
The lecture will explore the role of architects and landscape architects in addressing today’s global crises. Through a series of realized projects, including some in collaboration with DS, Maike van Stiphout will illustrate why building for biodiversity is an essential part of the solution. Further five steps towards nature-inclusive development will be explained and the aesthetics of urban wilding as a design and planning challenge for both architecture and landscape architecture.
Maike van Stiphout (WUR 1988, RMIT Australia 1986) is principal of DS landscape architects, founded in 1993, together with Bruno Doedens. She’s the Speaker for the Living at the first Zoop HNI in Rotterdam. She is an experienced teacher, designer and quality controller. She directed the department of landscape architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture (2014-2018). She published the books Limesweg (2008) and The First and the Second Guide to Nature Inclusive Design (2019).
