"Half Life" is an exhibition dedicated to places where people work. However, working environments extend far beyond the production site or the office. They are closely interwoven with the origins of cities and influence or are influenced by them. This is where ideas about social welfare, community and our coexistence were born. The exhibition explores the question of how we can and, above all, want to integrate work in our cities today and in the future.
Historical and contemporary examples show the relationship between the city and labour. Architecture students at TU Wien developed projects based on these examples and attempted to apply what they had learnt to the HQ7 site in Vienna Simmering and the site of the former Csepel company in Budapest.
The exhibition "Das Halbe Leben" opens on 9 March 2024 at 18:30 with a vernissage at the Simmering District Museum and can be viewed until 26 April 2024.
The exhibition was curated by architecture students together with Karoline Mayer (Architekturzentrum Wien) and Dorothee Huber (TU Wien/Urban Planning Research Department).
